The Role
Basis is looking for a motivated and curious intern to contribute to our vision by developing a proof-of-concept power line communication system.
In this practical project, you will apply your skills and knowledge in writing DSP algorithms for embedded systems as well as developing analogue and digital hardware.
You will collaborate closely with our experienced engineers, receiving mentorship and guidance as you gain hands-on experience in a real-world engineering environment. This internship is an excellent opportunity to grow your technical expertise and see your contributions come to life.
Some of the things that you might be involved in include:
- Following best practices and company guidelines, implement real-time digital signal processing algorithms within a constrained embedded system.
- Perform bench testing to ensure your code functions correctly, and unit tests to ensure it is reliable.
- Including both analogue and digital, take your ideas from idea to schematic to PCB
- Assemble circuits, verify and debug their behaviour using a variety of lab equipment
- Identify appropriate technologies and methods to achieve your objectives
- Perform analysis to characterise and understand both hardware and software behaviours
- Document, report, and present your findings to the wider team
- Contribute positively to company culture during your internship
About You
We think you’ll be a fit for this role if have the following skills or experience:
- Partially completed Bachelor of Electrical/Electronic Engineering/Mechatronics or similar
- Experience writing software for Embedded Systems in C/C++
- Experience developing performant real-time digital signal processing algorithms for constrained systems
- Experience developing both analogue and digital hardware
- Eagerness to learn and experiment
- Able to self-organise and deliver results when faced with ambiguity
- Curious and open minded
