Visual Designer (Brand and Marketing)

About Us
At Basis, we’re not just building a company — we’re building the future. We’re redesigning the electrical systems that power our homes to fight climate change, reduce household costs, and create a better future for generations to come. That means rethinking everything, not just what we build, but how we build it.
To do this, we need incredible people. People who are bold, creative, sharp, and thoughtful. People who care. People who move fast and think differently. That’s where you come in.
The Role
In this newly created role, you’ll own and evolve our brand across every touchpoint - web, print, motion, and events - turning a deep-tech hardware/software product into something that feels simple, human, and desirable. You’ll shape our design system, craft campaigns and content that move the needle, and translate complex technical ideas into clear, elegant visuals. It’s hands-on and high-impact: you’ll partner with marketing, and you’ll see your work live everywhere from landing pages to large-format stands.
Some of the things that you might be involved in include:
- Own the brand visual language across web, print, social, and events.
- Design and ship responsive web experiences (landing pages, product pages, documentation hubs).
- Create offline collateral (brochures, spec sheets, installation guides, packaging inserts).
- Lead event/environmental design (stands, signage, wayfinding, large-format graphics).
- Deliver motion/animation assets and content (lightweight loops, explainer animations, social cut-downs).
- Translate technical content into clear visuals (diagrams, iconography, wiring flows).
- Maintain and expand a design system (Figma tokens, icon sets, templates, image treatments).
- Partner cross-functionally with PMM, Product, and Sales to deliver design assets that move the needle.
If you’re excited by climate-positive tech and want the freedom to build something enduring, this is the role for you!
Please note; as part of the application process we require a portfolio to review your previous work - please include a wide range of examples so we can see the scope of your prior projects. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
About You
We think you’ll be a fit for this role if you have the following skills/or traits:
- 5+ years in brand/marketing design (startup or product company experience a plus).
- Portfolio spanning web, print, and environmental/event design.
- Expert in Figma, Canva, Adobe CC (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop). After Effects (or similar) for motion preferred.
- Web literacy (responsive grids, component libraries, UX basics). Bonus: Webflow/Framer/front-end handoff experience.
- Print & production expertise: prepress, dielines, large-format graphics, supplier coordination.
- Ability to simplify technical/engineering content into clean, user-friendly visuals.
- Creative storyteller with strong attention to detail.
- Strong collaboration with marketing, product, and technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to ship fast, scrappy solutions when needed.
Research shows that while men apply for jobs when they meet ~ 60% of the job criteria, women and other marginalised groups tend to apply only when they check every box. So if you think you have what it takes, but are not sure you check every box, we still want to hear from you 🙌
