Sparky Territory Manager

About Us
At Basis, we’re not just building a company — we’re building the future. We’re redesigning the electrical systems that power our homes to fight climate change, reduce household costs, and create a better future for generations to come. That means rethinking everything, not just what we build, but how we build it.
To do this, we need incredible people. People who are bold, creative, sharp, and thoughtful. People who care. People who move fast and think differently. That’s where you come in.
The Role
In this exciting, newly created role, you’ll build and scale how Basis partners with the Sparky (electrician) community. That means everything from training and onboarding new Sparkies, to jumping on-site to make sure first installs run smoothly, to partnering with wholesalers to uncover new opportunities. You’ll also collaborate with our wider team when customer issues might need extra support or investigation. Through it all, you’ll grow adoption and lift Basis’ presence in the Sparky community. As a trusted advisor, you’ll be the person Sparkies turn to - answering questions big and small - and you’ll equip them with the tools to grow their customer base with Basis.
Some of the things that you might be involved in include:
- Actively follow up Sparky leads, quotes, and training graduates to drive first installs.
- Manage a clear pipeline of Sparkies; nurturing their journey with Basis from new-to the-product to repeat installs and everything in between
- Be present on-site with Sparkies during installs to solve issues in real time
- Gather structured feedback (NPS, issues, objections) and feed this into sales, product, and ops
- Build “champion Sparkies” who mentor others and act as advocates.
- Build strong relationships with our wholesale partners to identify Sparky interest in stock/pricing
- Ensure Sparkies can confidently use sales tools (ROI calculators, brochures, Home App demo mode)
- Support Basis training cohorts with ongoing engagement
- Support with customer field issues, liaising with the relevant Sparky to understand and identify the root cause
This is ideal for someone who’s worked as an electrician and wants to move off the tools into a more people-focused role. It’s the first role of its kind at Basis, so there’s real scope to make your mark and grow with us — whether that’s further in sales or into a more technical path down the track.
Please note; This role services the whole of Aotearoa New Zealand and involves regular travel. We plan travel in advance where possible, but there will be times when you need to be reactive to support installs.
About You
We think you’ll be a fit for this role if you have the following skills/or traits:
- Trade-qualified electrician background. Current practising licence preferred (we’re open to candidates who can renew).
- A full driver's license and vehicle (car allowance provided).
- Experience in sales, business development, or trade enablement (ideally electrical, solar, or smart-tech) is a plus, but we’ll also consider motivated candidates with the right drive to learn.
- A reputation for being trustworthy, driven, and solution-oriented — someone Sparkies want to talk to.
- A natural ability to connect with a wide range of personalities — from hands-on sparkies to wholesalers and developers.
- The energy and curiosity to be constantly learning and feeding insights back into the business.
- Follow-through: you do what you say you’ll do, own your mistakes, and improve the playbook.
- Tenacity and a positive, customer-first attitude in challenging situations.
Research shows that while men apply for jobs when they meet ~ 60% of the job criteria, women and other marginalised groups tend to apply only when they check every box. So if you think you have what it takes, but are not sure you check every box, we still want to hear from you 🙌
